365 // Life Journal: CHINA TRIP DAY 4 & 5: CHENGDU

Greetings from the city of Panda!

After staying for two nights at Jiu Zhai Gou, we continued our journey to Chengdu.

Chengdu is a capital city of Szechuan province, which is famous of its panda base and the biggest mall in Asia called Global Centre.

Like previous flight, our flight to Chengdu was delayed due to bad weather at Jiu Zhai Gou, so I had to wait for approx. 2 hours. :(

Tips for travellers!

If you have the same holiday route like me (Chengdu - Jiu Zhai Gou - Chengdu), it's better to bring one small carrier to Jiu Zhai Gou, then you leave your baggage (or big luggage) at your hotel you'd stayed in Chengdu (make sure your hotel in Chengdu is same before and after trip in Jiu Zhai Gou!), so you don't have to bring too many bags in Jiu Zhai Gou.

Popular Places You Have to Visit in Chengdu:

1. Chengdu Panda Base

Who can resist the cuteness of pandas?? Chengdu Panda Base is claimed as the biggest panda base in Asia (or maybe in the world? he.) The best time to visit is in the morning because the weather is quite acceptable for pandas. Too bad I just saw few of them and the rest was PEOPLE! Luckily, I had a chance to take photo of baby panda although it was blurred. T_T

2. Global Centre Mall

CALLING FOR SHOPPING LOVERS! Global Centre Mall is the biggest mall in Asia. I think the size is 4 times football stadium!! >O< You can find tons of fashion stores, food stalls, playgrounds, and super big food courts! There were LOTTE Department Store as well! If you love Korean Food, enjoy it at LOTTE's Food Court at LG Floor.

A little shopping-hack tips for shopping lovers!

In Global Centre Mall, they sell stuffs in a very high price. Don't worry! Even though it's a huge mall, you still can ask for discount to the shopkeepers. :'D But you have to bring lots of money, tho.

3. Chengdu Jinli Ancient Street

Have a super yum2 and dum2 experience in this ancient street. Actually it's not a "street". It's a place where tons of people sell anything from food to souvenirs. If you are looking for souvenirs or warm and hearty food, this is the right place! From delicious skewers to cozy Starbucks, you find it in one place!

I bought a bracelet with name on carved-rice. SOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL! >.< Look how this guy carved my name (in Korea) on rice!

4. Chengdu's Changing Face Show

This show will blow your mind! It tells about a couple who was separated by the hollow and the guy lost his strength. To bring the strength back and save his princess, the angel gave a mask to him.

(Don't blame me if the story was wrong because that was I saw on the show. T_T)

What to eat?

1. Szechuan's Hotpot

My local guide said that Szechuan was famous of their hotpot dish. Tooooooo baaaaadddddd I didn't have a chance to try any. T_T

2. Szechuan's Skewers

In Jinli Ancient Street, there was a food stall that sold various types of skewers with Szechuan spices. You can smell the fragrance even when you are 10 metres away! Again, I didn't have a chance to try any T_T *sob

3. Steamed-Egg

It's like Japanese Chawan Mushi. The difference is Chawan Mushi has lots of meat inside the egg, meanwhile in Chengdu, there was only a piece of small shrimp on the egg. The flavour is quite tasteless too. You have to add light soy sauce to make it better.

4. Korean Food

If you are in LOTTE Department Store, try their Korean Food although you are not in Korea. From potato twister, ddeokbboki (spicy rice cake), to spicy ramyun soup, they will fire up your energy!

5. PEZZO
Located in the 4th Floor of the mall, they sold various types of pizzas! You can buy a whole pan or just a single piece. Yummy to the max!

Chengdu isn't as big as other cities in China, but Chengdu has lots of potential places to visit. The people are also friendly! If you want to feel and try the Szechuan's sensation, come! :)
